5/7/2008 Schofield and Dillon Earn AMC Recognition by Ryan Beigle COLUMBUS , Ohio – Ohio Dominican's Adam Schofield (Westerville , OH) and Greg Dillon (Fort Wayne , IN) were recently named to the AMC All-Conference team.

Schofield, a senior at ODU, finished his career with Ohio Dominican playing number one singles for the past two seasons. Adam teamed with fellow All-Conference member Greg Dillon to hold down the number one doubles spot. Schofield earned his third AMC award while Dillon, a freshman, earned his first.
"This is a nice accomplishment for Adam and Greg. They both had solid seasons playing against top notch talent. I look forward to seeing what Greg can do again next year, while Adam will certainly be tough to replace," said Head Coach Ryan Beigle.
The Panthers finished with a 10-8 overall record and an opening round loss to the eventually National Tournament Qualifier Malone College. |
5/3/2008 Men’s Tennis Season ends in Regional Tourney CANTON , Ohio – The Ohio Dominican University men's tennis team turned in arguably their best effort on Thursday afternoon, but could not overcome the solid play of Malone College. The Panthers took the top seeded Pioneers to the wire, but dropped their open round match, 6-3.
The Panthers opened the match winning 2-of-3 doubles matches and found themselves with the momentum need to pull the upset. Securing doubles points for the Panthers were Conrad Klank (Dayton, OH) and Mike Simon (Hilliard, OH) at the number two position by the score of 8-6. Bobby McMahan (Dunwoody, GA) and Travis Pecinovsky (Whitehall, OH) rebounded from an early season loss to win court three 8-4. more
In singles play the men played well but dropped three, 3-set matches in the regional loss. Pecinovsky was the loan singles point at #6 singles 6-1, 6-1.
"This might be the best performance the men have turned in this season," said head coach Ryan Beigle. "It's a shame someone had to lose the match as both teams played at a very high level."
The Panthers finish their season with a record of 10-7 and a fourth place finish in the very competitive American Mideast Conference. |
4/29/2008 Tennis Program Prepares for NAIA Regional COLUMBUS , Ohio – The Ohio Dominican University men's and women's tennis teams concluded their regular seasons this past week. With successful regular seasons under their belt, both qualified for the NAIA Region IX Tournament which will be held Thursday and Friday, May 1st and 2nd in Canton, Ohio. The tournament consists of the top four teams from the AMC regular season.
With an undefeated conference run, the women are primed to earn their first bid to the NAIA National Tournament in Mobile, Alabama. The Panthers finished AMC play with a perfect 7-0 record, marking their first undefeated conference season. ODU will open play on Thursday against AMC foe Roberts Wesleyan College in the #1 vs. #4 match-up. Walsh University will battle Cedarville University in the #2 vs. #3 series. Both teams will begin first round play at 9 a.m. more
The winners of the first round match-ups will return to action on Friday, May 2nd beginning at 9 a.m.
The men qualified for the regional field again after a year hiatus. The Panthers finished the AMC season with a 2-3 record and a 4th place finish in the very competitive AMC field. ODU will open the tournament against the #1 seed Malone College Pioneers on Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. Walsh University and Cedarville University will battle in the #2 vs. #3 match-up, also beginning at 1 p.m.

4/22/2008 Men’s Tennis Earns Second Straight Win by Ryan Beigle DELAWARE , Ohio – The Ohio Dominican University men's tennis team claimed their second consecutive win Monday afternoon defeating Ohio Wesleyan University 8-1 in Delaware , Ohio .
The Panthers jumped out to an early lead, winning 3-of-3 doubles matches over a talented Bishop team. Securing doubles points for the Panthers were Adam Schofield ( Westerville , OH ) and Greg Dillon ( Fort Wayne , IN ) at the #1 position by the score of 8-1, Michael Simon ( Hilliard , OH ) and Conrad Klank ( Dayton , OH ) at the #2 spot, 8-4, and Travis Pecinovsky ( Whitehall , OH ) and Bobby McMahan ( Dunwoody , GA ) at #3 doubles 8-3. more
In singles play, the Panthers earned 5-of-6 singles courts in the convincing non-conference win. Securing singles points were Schofield and Dillon at the #1 and #2 spots 6-0, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-4 respectively; while Klank and McMahan earned singles points at the #4 and #5 spots 0-6, 6-4, 11-9 and 6-3, 6-4. Pecinovsky won a hard fought point at #6 singles 6-3, 4-6, 10-5.
"This was another opportunity for the men to prepare for the upcoming regional tournament next week," commented head coach Ryan Beigle. "It is nice to see things coming together at the right time."
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, April 26th when they host the University of Northwestern Ohio in the final regular season match of 2008. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m. |
