5/24/2010 Feitosa Named NAIA All-American in Men’s Tennis
MOBILE, Alabama – Ohio Dominican sophomore Bernardo Feitosa was recently named Honorable Mention NAIA All-American, becoming the first male tennis player to receive back-to-back All-American honors. The NAIA All-American Team is voted by a group of national raters from around the NAIA who vote on the top 32 players in the country.
Feitosa (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) was a staple for the Panthers at the #1 position finishing with an 11-9 record. Bernardo paired with Bruno Melibeu (So./Sao Paulo, Brazil) at the #2 doubles position to finish with 11 wins and three losses. He helped lead the team to another post season berth, with a loss in the final of the NAIA Qualifying Tournament against NAIA No. 11 Lindsey Wilson College (KY). more
"Bernardo had a solid second season after a rough start," said head coach Ryan Beigle. "I was encouraged to see him bounce back and perform at a high level when the program needed him the most. Bernardo deserves this honor and is very well deserved."

4/28/2010 Panthers Finish Regular Season with 8th Straight Win
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican University men's tennis team secured their 8th straight win on Tuesday afternoon in Springfield, Ohio with a 6-3 win over Wittenberg University. The Panthers finished their regular season schedule with a season high eight straight wins.
ODU looked strong taking 2-of-3 doubles courts to start the match. Earning doubles points for the Panthers were Conrad Klank (Jr./Dayton, OH) and Claude Badowski (So./Oundle, England; pictured) on court one, 8-4 and Bernardo Feitosa (So./Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Bobby McMahan (Jr./Dunwoody, GA) on court two, 8-4. more
In singles, the Panthers were able to claim 4-of-6 singles courts for the non-conference win. Earning points for ODU was Feitosa on court one, 6-0, 6-0, along with Badowksi and Klank on courts three and four, 6-3, 6-2 and 6-2 , 7-5. McMahan finished off the final point for the Panthers with 6-2, 6-3 win on court five.
The Panthers will return to action on Friday, April 30th as they travel to Georgetown, Kentucky to play Brescia University in a NAIA Qualifying Semi-Final match with the Bearcats. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m. |
4/24/2010 Panthers Hold on Against Warriors in Home Finale
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican University men's tennis team held on for a 5-4 win on Friday afternoon against the visiting Warriors of Indiana Tech. The Panthers took 3-of-3 doubles points and held on to take two singles courts for the win.
The Panthers looked strong to start the match as they were able to secure all three doubles points for only the third time this season. Earning points were Conrad Klank (Jr./Dayton, OH) and Claude Badowski (So./Oundle, England) on court one, 8-6 and Bernardo Feitosa (So./Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Bobby McMahan (Jr./Dunwoody, GA) on court two, 8-4. Finishing out the doubles points were Greg Dillon (Jr./Fort Wayne, IN) and Ernest Martinovic (Jr./Akron, OH) at #3 doubles, 8-5. more
In singles play, the Warriors grabbed the early momentum as they claimed the first 4-of-5 singles courts. Feitosa earned a dominate win on court one, 6-1, 6-4 but it was Indiana Tech who pushed the match to 4-4 with one match remaining. Dillon proved to again be the match of the day, as he earned a tough 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 win on court two to finish off the visiting Warriors and give the Panthers their tenth win of the season.
The Panthers will return to action Tuesday, April 27th as they travel to Springfield, Ohio to play Wittenberg University in the final regular season match of the season. The match is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. |
4/23/2010 Panthers Too Much for Yellow Jackets
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican University men's tennis team extended their late season winning streak to six matches on Thursday afternoon in Cedarville, Ohio. The Panthers secured the 7-2 decision over former AMC rival and host Cedarville University to earn their ninth win of the year.
ODU, starting with singles looked strong taking 5-of-6 matches to secure the win before doubles play began. Earning quick singles points for the Panthers was Bernardo Feitosa (So./Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) on court one, 6-1, 6-2 and Bobby McMahan (Jr./Dunwoody, GA) on court six, 6-2, 6-2. Claude Badowski (So./Oundle, England) and Conrad Klank (Jr./Dayton, OH) continued their strong play with wins at #4 and #5 singles, 6-3, 6-4 and 6-4, 6-1. The fifth singles point came from court three when Greg Dillon (Jr./Fort Wayne, IN) held off freshman Dan Adriansen 7-5, 1-6, 6-3 to secure the win. more
In doubles play, the Panthers took 2-of-3 courts to earn the convincing win. Earned doubles points were Feitosa and McMahan on court two, 8-3 and Dillon and Ernest Martinovic (Jr./Akron, OH) on court three, 8-5.
The Panthers will return to action tomorrow, Friday, April 23rd as they host Indiana Institute of Technology for a non-conference double-header with the Warriors. The match is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. |
